Question:
Should I be taking olive leaf extract a week before having hip replacement surgery?
Answer:
It would probably best to stop at least a week before the surgery; I think doctors usually stop you taking blood thinners and other drugs 2 weeks before surgery. Olive leaf does hinder blood platelets from sticking together, which is usually a good thing, but it may be wise to treat it as a blood thinner before surgery.
Depending on what drugs they give you after surgery, if any, it would be good to start again with olive leaf as soon as possible.
It would be wise to check this with the doctor/surgeon as well.
