Question:
What are the benefits of olive leaf for dogs?
Answer:
Much of the experimentation to evaluate the benefits of olive leaf extract has been done on animals, dogs included. It seems to be great for dog high blood pressure and arrhythmias. If you search under "dogs" in the search facility on the site you will find what others have written.
An animal lover customer I had used to take in stray cats and she would immediately put them on olive leaf extract to get rid of unwanted pathogens as part of their care. She could not speak highly enough of it.

Question:
I have an 8 lb. Yorkie that has been taking Zonisamide for seizures. Because of this she has devoted cataracts. Can olive leaf tincture be given to her with this medication?
Answer:
I am not aware of any research done on this. The mechanism of how Zonisamide works is not known so it is a guess what effect olive leaf tincture would have.
If the Zonisamide causes drowsiness, an ethanolic tincture may slightly add to that effect. A non-alcoholic tincture would not.
A low dose of olive leaf extract could be tried to see if there is an adverse effect, and then increased to the desired dose in steps if no problems are experienced.
